ANSI B73.1 Process Pumps

ASME B73.1 defines 27 pump sizes to fixed dimensions. Any compliant pump drops onto the same baseplate, nozzles and foundation bolts as the one it replaces.

What it does.

An ANSI pump is horizontal, end-suction, single-stage and centreline-discharge. The standard fixes suction and discharge nozzle sizes and locations, mounting and baseplate dimensions, input shaft configurations and foundation bolt hole locations.

The core objective is dimensional interchangeability — plant operators can switch brands without redesigning pipework, which is why the standard has held since 1974.
