Rotorflo Rotary Lobe Pumps

Cyclone Pump Range

Rotorflo Rotary Lobe Pumps

Engineered for high-performance fluid transfer in stringent, hygiene-conscious industries, the Rotorflo Rotary Lobe Pump is a compact, low-maintenance positive displacement system. It holds the distinct designation of being the only South African-manufactured rotary lobe pump to achieve European Hygienic Equipment Design Group (EHEDG) certification.

EHEDG Certified Low-Shear Transfer Up to 96 m³/h

EHEDG Certification: The Rotorflo is the only South African-made rotary lobe pump to meet the stringent European Hygienic Equipment Design Group standard — a distinction that verifies compliance with the most demanding sanitary processing requirements globally.

Product Overview

The Rotorflo Rotary Lobe Pump represents the pinnacle of sanitary positive displacement technology for applications where hygiene, gentle fluid handling, and product integrity are non-negotiable. Operating on positive displacement technology, the system is optimised to provide a gentle, low-shear pumping action, making it ideal for the safe and efficient transfer of delicate, highly viscous, and shear-sensitive media. Whether you’re processing dairy products, food ingredients, pharmaceuticals, or any application requiring strict adherence to hygienic standards, the Rotorflo delivers reliability and regulatory compliance.

The EHEDG certification stands as proof that every internal surface, every sealing solution, and every geometric detail has been engineered to eliminate product entrapment, prevent bacterial harbouring, and facilitate comprehensive Clean-in-Place (CIP) protocols without compromise.

Mechanical & Structural Engineering

Robust Drive & Shafting

Constructed with heavy-duty, large-sectioned stainless steel shafts to minimise deflection and maximise rigidity under operational loads. The main shafts are supported by standard taper-roller bearings, ensuring extended service life and resistance to vibration-induced fatigue.

Precision Synchronisation

Helical gears precisely time the main and lay shafts, maintaining exact rotor clearances to ensure high volumetric efficiency and strong suction lift. The gears are keyed to produce a positive drive, eliminating the need to reset timing during rotor replacements.

Housing & Alignment

The spigotted rotor case is positively located on the bearing housing, completely eliminating the use of loose dowels. The gear housing itself is constructed from robust cast iron and accommodates either grease or oil lubrication for maximum operational flexibility.

Rotor Assembly

Utilises a 12-involute spline configuration to ensure highly accurate rotor positioning during assembly. Adjustments to rotor clearances can be executed quickly via shimming external to the gearbox, minimising assembly and maintenance downtime.

Overload Protection (Optional)

Front covers can be configured with an integrated pressure relief valve to safeguard the hydraulic system against over-pressurisation, protecting downstream equipment and ensuring system integrity.

Hygienic Design & Fluid Dynamics

Sanitary Construction

All wetted components are manufactured from high-grade 316 stainless steel. The internal pumping chamber is fully swept during operation, ensuring zero product entrapment – a critical requirement for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications.

Bacterial Mitigation

“O” ring seals are precisely profiled to the edge of the pumping chamber, and flush covers are utilised to eliminate dead zones where bacterial growth could occur. Additional “O” rings on the rotors protect the internal splines from product contamination.

Versatile Sealing Options

To match specific process demands, shaft sealing can be configured using mechanical seals, packed glands, or standard “O” rings, ensuring optimal compatibility with your processing environment and CIP protocols.

Optimised Porting

Supplied with full-diameter porting as a standard feature to facilitate unimpeded fluid flow. Custom fittings and enlarged inlets specifically designed for hopper feeds are available to suit custom facility geometries.
